Product Details
A very decorative 1920s Amsterdam School accent table, combining bold design with practical ingenuity. Its removable pewter top - originally intended to make cleaning easy - sits neatly recessed into the pewter frame, ensuring stability.
The lower tier, also in pewter, offers additional surface space and visual balance.
The three legs are a standout feature: cut from solid ebonized wood in a stepped, architectural profile, with a quirky flare at the feet that lends the table both character and lightness. This subtle deviation from more common Amsterdam School leg designs makes the piece especially rare.
Surprisingly heavy for its modest size, this table has a satisfying solidity and the light patina on the pewter top speaks to its century-long history. Its original purpose (once made as a smoker's table) may have faded, but its presence and craftsmanship endure — making it an ideal statement piece for collectors of Dutch Art Deco as well as lovers of unusual, well-made design.
The Amsterdam School was a distinctly Dutch answer to the international Art Deco movement, merging expressive silhouettes with exceptional artisanal detail.
