Product Details
A stylish pewter vase with a rare modernist design, Daalderop, The Netherlands, c. 1925. Signed underneath with the Daalderop stamp from the 1920s. The piece is in very good condition regarding it is just over a 100 years old. The oval vase is supported by 4 colums with a geometrical design. This gives it a very modernist appearance. The piece has a lovely patina and shine. Daalderop is more known for a couple of Amsterdam School designs. This vase is more towards Haagse School, which is remarkable. We haven't seen another one like this before.
The Daalderop factory was founded in 1880 by J.N. Daalderop. SInce the early years they produced household items like tableware, pots and dishes, kettles, and gas lamps. The family business was under the undisputed leadership of Johan Daalderop (1883-1961). Until the Second World War their most important designer was Meine Huisenga. Klaas van Aken was also one of the designers.
It is known that the style of their products at some point started evolving towards that Art Deco and the Amsterdam School, but pieces with these kind of charactericts - decorative bullets - are rather scarce and sought after. The more common pieces with a less pronounced style are still commonly found in many Dutch households.
