Product Details
This table is a strong example of Dutch Art Deco in the modernist idiom of the Hague School. Its design emphasizes clarity of form, proportion, and function - hallmarks of this more restrained and architectural branch of Dutch design in the 1920s.
The circular top rests on a disciplined structural framework, with the body articulated by two open sides separated by a central vertical partition. The remaining two sides are enclosed with elegantly bent oak panels, introducing a subtle curvature that softens the geometry without compromising the table’s modernist character. A lower shelf mirrors the round top, reinforcing both stability and visual balance.
The result is a sculptural yet rigorously controlled object - functional, precise, and intentionally devoid of excess ornament. Likely produced in small numbers, or as a bespoke commission, this table reflects the Hague School’s pursuit of rational beauty and craftsmanship.
A rare and collectible Dutch modernist piece, ideal for interiors that value structure, material honesty, and timeless design.

''Haagse School'' furniture manufacturing was centered in the city of The Hague with its rather affluent clientele.

In the 1920s, a style of architecture and furniture design emerged in The Hague that would become known as The Hague School. More sober than the imaginative Amsterdam School and more elegant and luxurious than De Stijl, this style is also called Dutch Art Deco.
After the First World War, young designers such as Henk Wouda, Cor Alons and J. Brunott developed their own modern design for the interior. They chose the work of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright as the most important example. They combined their idiosyncratic preferences with the commercial requirements of the Hague furniture factories. The result was the now well-known Dutch 'Hague School' style with its straight and geometric, cubist lines and shapes.
