Product Details
A rare modernist wooden armchair in oak with macassar ebony (coromandel) armrests and at the lowr part of either sides subtle black modernist accents in black lacquered wood.
This chair has a very pleasant, harmonious appearance with great proportion and scale. The design is quite simple but very functional. The backrest has a very subtle tilt which is important for comfort. The chair has a great patina and a beautiful wood grain. Construction is very sturdy. It is in very good lightly restored condition, This piece is very suitable when combining with other modernist or Dutch Art Deco pieces. It's a perfectly usable chair as well as a conversation piec. A true asset for Dutch Art Deco/Modernism enthusiasts.
Because of a striking similarity to a documented armchair by Wouda this piece is attributed to Hendrik Wouda as being one of the earlier designs.
Some pictures have been taken in sunlight to give a better impression of the colours. The colour of the newupholstery is cream. The seat comes out and can very easily be reupholstered in any desired fabric and colour.
