Product Details
A Dutch Art Deco side table with a strong geometry and architectural presence. Dating to the 1920s, executed in solid oak, oak and macassar ebony details. The feet and the vertical decoration on each leg, are in solid macassar.
Around the circular the dark veneer details add depth, contrast, and a sharper modernist edge.
The design relates closely to the Dutch modernist tradition of the Hague School, where furniture became more restrained, geometric, and structural than the more expressive forms of the Amsterdam School. In that development, the influence of Frank Lloyd Wright was important. Dutch designers absorbed his sense of horizontality, balance, and architectural composition, creating furniture that feels deeply connected to the space around it. This table carries that idea beautifully.
A heavy, sturdy, and very well-made piece with warm oak tones, rich macassar contrast, and a commanding presence. Ideal as a side table, lamp table, or accent in a thoughtful interior.
Very good restored condition with minor signs of wear.
