Product Details
A striking Dutch Art Deco coffee table with a distinctly modernist character, dating from around 1930. The design is beautifully architectural: a broad circular top rests above a lower round tier, supported by vertical rectangular uprights that give the table a strong, rhythmic silhouette.
The dark wood has a wonderfully textured grain, with warm reddish-brown tones that catch the light beautifully - it would make a very striking anchor piece in a seating area.
Its form sits somewhere between Dutch Art Deco (The Hague style) and modernism. There is no unnecessary decoration; instead, the strength lies in the proportion, the circular geometry and the contrast between the open construction and the rich, tactile wood surface.
This table works beautifully as a coffee table or centre table. It would combine especially well with a light-coloured curved sofa, organic modern furniture, or a more clean-lined modernist interior. The dark wood adds warmth and depth without becoming heavy, making it a very versatile piece for both classic and contemporary rooms.
The table has been lightly restored with respect for its age and character. Structurally solid and well made.
