A modernist pedestal in the Hague School tradition, dating somewhere between the 1930s and 1950s.
A large pedestal (97 cm high), designed with strong modernist lines — tapering upward from a broad base to a smaller square top (25 x 25 cm). Crafted in oak with a warm patina, inner sides in thinner veneered wood. It has both sturdiness and visual lightness, making it ideal for displaying heavy sculptures, ceramics, or art objects.
The design is simple and modernist; clean planes, sharp angles, and a presence that reflects the Hague School’s affinity with sober, architectural forms. Its geometric silhouette ensures that whatever is placed on top takes center stage, while the pedestal itself also makes for a great accent piece in a room.
Pictures are taken in natural light, sunlight and in different setting and cubist sculptures on top to give an idea of the ways this pedestal could work in a space. It is very stable and sturdy and suitable to place a very heavy sculpture or a buste on.
Haagse School (The Hague School) is a more sober Dutch Art Deco variant opposed to Amsterdam School. Straighter lines and rationalist principles are characterisctics of this style. The Dutch Haagse School architects like Hendrik Wouda, and Cor Alons were greatly inspired by Frank Lloyd Wright.
