Product Details
A striking and sophisticated example of Dutch Art Deco craftsmanship from the Amsterdam School period, dating to the 1920s. This elegant side table showcases the movement’s characteristic sense of architecture, rhythm, and geometry.
The circular top is beautifully inlaid with a geometric starburst pattern, executed in oak and Macassar ebony (also known as coromandel) veneer. The contrast between the warm golden oak and the deep, almost black ebony creates a dynamic visual interplay.
The table stands on four sculpted legs, each subtly flaring toward the base, giving the piece both strength and poise. The legs are joined by finely detailed cross-stretchers, forming an elegant “X” structure for stability and harmony. At the ends, small ebonized squares complete the composition - a refined detail typical of the Amsterdam School’s attention to architectural proportions.
A superb accent or occasional table that embodies the craftsmanship and design innovation of early 20th-century Dutch decorative arts.
