Product Details
A refined Dutch Art Deco side table from the 1920s, executed in solid oak and oak veneer with macassar ebony (coromandel) inlays. A striking example of the Amsterdam School, where architecture and craftsmanship come together in a clear, geometric composition.
The circular top features a cross-shaped ebony inlay, creating a precise graphic division of the surface. This motif is subtly echoed in the vertical ebony accents set into the legs. Below, the cross stretchers support a circular lower tier, which is beautifully veneered in four quarters of oak.
A piece that has a presence without heaviness. The proportions are compact yet solid, with a clear emphasis on structure and material contrast. The tone of the oak is complemented by the dark, expressive grain of the macassar ebony, resulting in a distinctive appearance.

The table is sturdy and constructively in very good condition, suitable to use as a side table, display table or lamp table.

About Amsterdam School (summery from source: Amsterdam Museum ''Het Schip'')
The Amsterdam School started as a group of friends that took over power in the Amsterdam architectural society Architectura et Amicitia in 1916. Not being literally a school, the ''Amsterdam School'' was a movement in art and architecture. Followers such as Michel De Klerk, Hildo Krop, Piet Kramer, Joan van der Mey, Margaret Staal-Kropholler, Jan Gratama and Hendrik Wijdeveld had grand and political ideals to achieve innovative architecture and urban planning.
These Amsterdam School artists searched for new forms that matched their vision of society. It was time to break with old traditional forms. The Amsterdam School style is recognizable by their expressive use of color and materials and rich, imaginative decorations.
