At 140 cm (55”) tall and 60 cm (23.5”) wide, it has a strong presence without overwhelming a room. When lit, the glow is magnificent, with the glass and fabric diffusing light like candlefire - its chains and rivets catch the light - a rhythm of craftsmanship suspended in air.

This is a lamp that can transform the atmosphere in a room - equally in a grand hallway with soaring ceilings or above a reading corner where shadow meets warmth, it lends an aura of exceptional grandeur. A museum-grade treasure - yet most magical when lived with, when its glow turns everyday space into something enchanted.

This piece channels the expressive power of the Amsterdam School, while its honesty of material and craft reveals the Arts & Crafts spirit beneath.
About Winkelman & Van der Bijl
Founded around 1910, Winkelman & Van der Bijl quickly earned a reputation as masters of ornamental metalwork. By 1915, they were producing the exterior lamps and decorative details for Amsterdam’s landmark Scheepvaarthuis, a cornerstone of Amsterdam School architecture. Their workshop became a frequent collaborator with sculptor Hildo Krop and architects such as Piet Kramer and Adriaan Moen, contributing lighting, railings, and decorative ironwork to bridges, public buildings, and even the famed Gerzon fashion house on Spuistraat.
Through these commissions, Winkelman & Van der Bijl helped define the material language of the Amsterdam School—an aesthetic that fused craft, fantasy, and monumental form into an enduring vision of modern Dutch design.
